I sometimes go to Dr Sketchys at the Mighty Mighty Bar. This is a burlesque life drawing class. It's different to normal life drawing, in that they're burlesque models. As well, it's a bit more relaxed and less serious, you're at a bar and encouraged to drink. They give us 2 minute, 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minute and 20 minute poses. As well, usually one where you incorporate a background, or funny ones like drawing with your weak hand, or drawing with your mouth etc., although I haven't included any of these drawings. Some of these drawings are a bit unfinished due to time constraints, but did my best and I think with all the sketches together it gives a good idea. I forget the names of some of the models, but I've done my best to describe who they are and provided links to what they look like, so you can compare my drawings to the actual models. In my landscape paintings, I think the people in them aren't usually the strong point of the painting, so I hope to improve at this through life drawing. As well, someone told me if you can draw the human form you can do anything. I like to experiment with chalk, charcoal, and cheap marker pens along with pencil. When I was around 12 I read the book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" I think you can see a bit of comic book influence in the way I draw faces in some of them. I may do more traditional life drawing at another time and upload pictures to this site.
